Today was a pretty jam-packed day of activities that I wasnt even able to set foot at work. Which is why my 6th #onewordonemonth challenge word is GENEROSITY The morning started with the simultaneous roll out of Araw of Pagbasa (Day of Reading) to commemorate the birth of Sen. Ninoy Aquino and celebrate the wonders of learning through reading. It was a full blown affair wherein JCI Daraga invited students from Anislag Elem. School and Victory Elem School totaling almost 100 for a morning of story telling. Our master storyteller was no other than Teacher Bey (of Piamont Science Oriented School for Kids) who went all out with costume and props. The kids were especially behaved and listened to the entire entertaining story from beginning until end. We even culminated the activity with the distribution of food and school supplies for each child. That was a lot of work! Following the Araw ng Pagbasa, Mart and I had to hurry to the Albay Chamber of Commerce co-sponsored event: a 3day medical/denetal mission which begun today in Masarawag, Guinobatan. This is especially close to my heart because I personally invited the NAVFORSOL medical/dental personnel as well as the Philippine Army's 2IB to participate in the event. Today they were able to care for 1,010 patients residing in the area -- and this is even the unofficial tally -- offering much-necessary medical services and medicines. That is a feat for a very lean working team. We still have 2 more days to go and I am quite excited!!
So these are my adventures today being generous with time, sweat and laughter living out my alma mater's credo to "Be a person for others!". How did you spend your day?
