Pedal for Change (coins) With very little sleep the night before, Mart and I woke up at 4am for a fun bike ride around Legazpi City. The event was sponsored by the Albay Bankers Association and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines) to promote coin circulation in the market. The unique come on was that the entire registration fee of Php 300 had to be paid in loose change to show the importance of coins for transactions. The reg fee also included water, McDO regular burger (for breakfast), singlet, zumba pre-exercise and commemorative Php1 coins. For this particular ride we decided to take out our customized tandem bike. Not only was it unconventional, since most of the bikers where for one person and 2 wheels, we were also gunning for the Most Unique Bike Award. All throughout the route, people were commenting on our bike, by standers or participants. It's not everyday you see 2 people pedaling one bike after all. Amazingly some bikers wanted their photo taken with our tandem bike. Other even gave it a spin just to experience what it's like. Yehp, it's the bike that's famous not the riders! haha The event was highly successful with 300 riders, JCI Daraga fielded 3 members namely Jem, Joanne and myself. The exercise even did us good. Although the route wasnt that long, we were met by wild weather changes making it challenging. But all throughout the morale was high and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Included below are some snapshots from the race. Enjoy!
