I am Isabel and I am an addict--- an INFINITY DRESS addict. The concept of an infinity dress has been around for a long time but fashion-wise has not been heralded as the next best thing. And I for one wonder why? This dress -- also called a convertible dress-- is one piece made out of stretch material that you can wind around your body in numerous configurations that it is never looks the same twice! I first came upon it during a wedding when a friend wore it thought "what a fantastic idea!". This was years ago and I didn't realize the usefulness of it until I was staring at my wardrobe looking for something formal to wear -- one that I had not worn more than 5x. Now that induction season is here it would mean numerous formal events and the same guests --meaning I have to either buy many gowns or be inventive so as not to be seen wearing the same thing over and over again. Luckily I think the infinity dress has made a comeback and you can purchase one for yourself online. But for someone like me who lives in the province this is a very costly option. I have also chanced upon DIY blogs that detail how you can make your own convertible dress for roughly 6 yards of stretch cloth. A few weeks ago I tried making one for myself. I found out that is deceptively easy to make, even for someone such as myself who doesn't know to sew professionally. All you really need are 3 measurements: 1. Waist 2. Bust 3. Skirt Length And a tutorial. Here are my sources: 1. Sew like my mom 2. See Cate Create Below are my fumbling attempts at making and wrapping the dress around my body:
