Day 8 for the #onewordonemonth challenge is in celebration of Christ's coming: ADVENT. Today we light the first candle in the wreathe to herald Christ's birth. I was like a child during today's mass celebration -- so excited to witness the Advent Lighting that I was dressed and ready to go a good 10 minutes before I usually am. Don't you notice the christmas theme of my calligraphy doodle this morning? I used my Sharpie brushpens to really get the color spot on. Although my mistletoe drawings look a little weird. hihi Wala kasing ganyan dito sa Pinas!
I also began cracking on my Christmas cards, especially those that will be sent abroad. The cards followed the same color theme: RED but this time with metallic highlights. Here's one that's off to the States. I also decided to add a special touch: using my Paper Doilies from Craft Central. What do you think of the design?

My 7th word for the #onewordonemonth challenge is blessed. Mart and I have been volunteering in the 3 day med/dental mission of APEC and ACCI which culminates today.
Despite having the most number of patients, the people in Banquerohan Legazpi were the friendliest and most courteous. Many of them had to wait long in order to see the doctor and have an Ecg/xray taken, but upon getting to my station (the pharmacy) they would without fail say thank you. Some of them would even wish us "Merry Christmas" or take the time to share a joke. It is this characteristic that makes me marvel at the Filipino Spirit that those who are the most marginalized are also those that are the most well-mannered. I am blessed to have met these people today. :) Today was a pretty jam-packed day of activities that I wasnt even able to set foot at work. Which is why my 6th #onewordonemonth challenge word is GENEROSITY
I didnt know how lucky the name Martin is to me. haha Aside from being the namesake of my true-love! (nahks!) The name Martin inspired me to make something more complicated for my morning calligraphy doodle. Using the words of the late charismatic leader Martin Luther King Jr I wrote down "Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that...". It is actually a portion of one of his speeches I think. I am extremely proud of what I did this morning kasi it's something I never tried before: mixing fonts, borders and other elements. Hubby says it would look better colored too bad I didnt use waterproof ink and that would have been possible. Let me know what you think! The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, |
